Details

Ray’s concrete grooving was formed in Spring of 2009. Having spent over twenty six years milking and working with cows, I have developed an understanding of the problems and needs of the farming sector. I researched various concrete grooving machines in Ireland, England, Germany and Holland. I choose a unique grooving machine that will work on a variety of concrete surfaces, i.e. broken, rough, uneven, sloping yards, steep ramps and confined spaces in and around milking parlours. The machine I have selected is the only one of its kind in Ireland.

High Risk Areas

Milking parlours entrance and exit points, collecting yards, cubical sheds, sharp turns and sloping yards calving pens, bull pens and passage ways with scrapers

Animals under stress

Herd testing, calving, milk fever, loading and unloading from sales and breeding season.
Most farms lose 1 to 2 animals per year.
Time consuming working with injured cows.

Calf Thermal Jackets – Testimonials

“We have been extremely impressed with the jackets. A number of our farmers were keen to experiment and in a pen of calves all the same age, 1 calf with a jacket had significantly greater growth rates than others without jackets, this was seen on a number of farms.”
Garston Veterinary Group, Garston House, Portway, Frome, Somerset.“The young calf up to one month old is highly susceptible to cold stress. The calf jacket provides an effective and simple way to keep the calf warm whenever the temperature drops below 10⁰C. This prevents weight loss (the calf otherwise must use energy from food to keep warm) and protects the sick calf that is particularly vulnerable. The jackets are very well made and practical, they can be machine washed so infectious diseases are not spread from one animal to another. I have seen some farms where all the calves are wearing them and others where the farmers have bought just a few to use on small or sick calves. They work very well.”
Kat Bazeley. BSc BVSc, CertWEL, MRCVS. Vet at Synergy Farm Health Evershot, Dorset.“I have no hesitation in recommending Cosy Calf Jackets. Cosy Calf jackets keep a calf warm when winter weather sets in and temperatures drop. As soon as temperatures are blow 8⁰C healthy calves use a significant proportion of the energy in their mild to generate body heat. This diverts valuable energy away from growth and from fighting off diseases. Cosy Calf jackets help to maintain growth in cold weather and so result in bigger, stronger and healthier calves. Cosy Calf jackets are also very useful when treating sick calves. Keeping any sick animal warm greatly improves the chances of a successful recovery. My clients, whether suckler farmers or dairy, have been amazed at how a Cosy Calf jacket helps to improve recovery from a bad dose of scours or pneumonia.”
Ed Powell-Jackson. MRCVS, Vet at Synergy Farm Health.”Very happy with the calf jackets we ordered, calves appear to thrive and are definitely a good investment.”
Quarry Hill FarmFrome, Somerset

“I spend time taking rugs on and off horses. It makes so much sense to do the same to the most vulnerable animals on the farm – baby calves! They do so well with them, it helps them to get through the “day 10” scours – off milk, reducing need for medicine.”
Mitchell(Drumdreel) Partners

“Cosy Calf Jackets are a major factor in calf survival in extremes of weather.”
Dairy FarmerWarwickshire

“Fantastic, didn’t want to take them off! Well worth 1.) Money  2.) Persuading my husband of all the benefits these coats give to new-born’s up to weaning calf’s. We washed them in the washing machine, come up like new! Such good quality. Lovely, lovely, lovely. Fab!”
M. PooleStretchacott Farm, Torrington, N. Devon

“Very pleased, calves look great, best weaned ones we have had for years!!”
Jersey Dairy FarmChard, Somerset

“Our herd is out wintered. Your Cosy Calf jackets helped the young calves to survive in awful conditions.”
